Today is one of those days of reflection..... Have you ever had someone in your life, for whatever reason they are now absent, and you have absolutely no regret of them no longer being a part of it?

I Chose U (I C U)
When I needed an escape.. I C U
When my world began to unravel.. I C U
When my dreams started to invade my reality.. I C U
When what we had caused me to reject everything I have ever known... I still chose you

The sacrifice made time and time again because.. I C U
The many nights we have both pondered, probably even asked ourselves 'why have I Chosen U'
Despite the confusion, feeling subdued by you was the only solution
Else the cliff would have begged me to fall in, and with you
Being with you and the ways I have felt for you, did nothing but re-enforce why I C U

As bittersweet as it felt, as oblivious to the present 'it' became.. I C U
Slowly the frustrated pains reared their heads in the shadows,
And it was no longer a choice, but now a battle, so I fought for you
It had to make sense I told myself, turning worlds upside down was not a pretense so... I C U

I don't live with regrets, so you could never be a mistake
What we shared will permanently occupy the cavities of my membrane
Unknown to us is the reason why I C U, but we now know it had been history in the making

The magnitude of those feelings will only force me to stay
And this is a place I cannot grow old in,  cannot be whole in
Sometimes to rebuild you have to destroy, or take the very existence of what is so strong
The history that we both perpetuate doesn't allow you to carry forth your dynamic vision for tomorrow
And for that reason I C U... but now is the time. I have to love me more so this is where I Choose Me.
